FAQ

Answers to what we get asked before the first call.

Straight answers to what we get asked most. If your question is about a site we already host for you, the client portal is quicker. If you are not a client yet, the contact form is the right place.

Working with us

Where we are, how a project starts, and what it costs to find out.

Where are you based?

Florida, with ongoing work in Cincinnati and central Indiana. We take on clients across the Gulf Coast, the Wiregrass, the Cincinnati tri-state, and the Indianapolis metro. Discovery and most of the build happen remotely wherever you are. If a job genuinely needs someone at the door for listing photos or a site visit, we will say so before we start.

How do we start?

Use the contact form and tell us what needs building, or what is broken. We reply within two business days. The reply is a next step or a question we cannot answer from the form, not a brochure.

Do you take every project?

Quite the opposite, marketplaces, booking systems, customer portals and applications with real data behind them are work we take on and enjoy. What we will tell you honestly is when a job is outside what we do well, and we would rather point you somewhere better than take it anyway.

What does a website cost?

Most websites start around $3,000 for a straightforward build and land between there and $15,000, depending on the page count, how much writing is involved, and anything the site has to do beyond displaying information. Custom applications with accounts, payments or a database behind them are scoped and priced separately, because they are software rather than pages. You get a range in writing after discovery, before anything starts.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. We discount for veterans and serving military, for anyone who came to us through a referral, and for clients coming back for a second project. Say so when you get in touch and it is applied to the proposal rather than held back as a negotiating chip.

How do you charge?

Website design is a project fee agreed after discovery. Search, ads, hosting and care are monthly plans. Numbers go on a proposal once we have seen the current site, so a range here is a range rather than a guess.

Who owns the site when you are done?

You do. DNS, the registrar, the repo, and the CMS admin are documented so you can walk the site to another host. That is a condition of the work, not a threat we wait to use.

Websites

Timelines, rebuilds, editing, and what happens to the site you already have.

How long does a website take?

Most small-business sites land in eight to fourteen weeks after discovery, if you can answer content questions in that window. A brochure of five pages is faster. A site with bookings, many locations, or a migration is slower. We put a calendar on the proposal, not on this page.

Can you redesign our current site?

Yes, if the CMS and host can take the work. Sometimes the templates cannot hold unique titles, a fast mobile page, or a form that actually sends. Then we rebuild. We will tell you which it is after we look, not in the first sales call.

Will we be able to edit it?

Usually yes. Most sites ship with a CMS shaped around your content, so your team can change copy, images and details without coming back to us, and we train whoever will be using it. Some projects are better served by a purpose-built admin, and a few genuinely do not need an editor at all. We will recommend what actually fits rather than fitting a CMS to every job.

Do we have to write the copy?

Someone who knows the business needs to be involved. We structure the pages, interview you, and write what we can from that. Where we would be inventing detail we stop and ask. If finding the time is the problem, say so early and we will plan around it.

Can you build something more than a website?

Yes, and a good share of our work is exactly that. Booking systems, customer portals, marketplaces, internal tools, integrations with software you already run, anything that needs real data and accounts behind it rather than a set of pages. We build on modern, well-supported frameworks and databases so another developer can pick it up later. If you are not sure whether your idea is a website or an application, describe it and we will tell you which it is.

Do you use WordPress?

When it is the right tool for the editors who will live in it. We also build static sites when the page count and the edit pattern fit. The choice is about who edits and how the site is hosted, not about a brand of CMS we are married to.

Search and listings

What search and Google Business Profile work covers, and what it cannot promise.

Will we rank in thirty days?

Usually not, and it would not be honest to promise it. A technical cleanup can show within a month, but rankings and inquiries from organic search typically take three to six months, longer if the site is new or the market is competitive.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. Nobody can buy their way into organic results, so a guarantee like that is worth treating with suspicion. What we will tell you is which searches your business can realistically win, exactly what we are changing, and how we will report on it.

Is local SEO the same as SEO?

No. Local work is the Google Business Profile, the map pack, citations, and a site that repeats the same name, address, and phone. Organic SEO is titles, architecture, and pages that match what people type. Many businesses need both. A statewide association often needs the second and not a storefront pin.

Can you get us reviews?

We can make it easy to ask for a review after a job, and we will help you reply to the ones you get. We do not buy, trade or write reviews. Google is good at spotting it, and it is not a risk worth taking with your listing.

We already have a Google Business listing.

Most firms do. The question is whether the primary category is right, the service area matches where you actually work, the hours match the door, and there is only one profile. Duplicate listings and a suite that emptied years ago are the usual mess.

Hosting, care, and support

Who keeps the site running after launch, and how to reach us when it matters.

Do we have to host with you?

No. If we cannot get a tested restore or a PHP version that is still in support, we will want to move. Saving a little on a host that cannot restore is not thrift.

What is the difference between hosting and a care plan?

Hosting is the platform: the site online, TLS, backups, and uptime checks. Care adds CMS and dependency updates, scanning, a monthly budget of small edits, and a faster first-reply target. Care plus is for when the site is actually down, not for a comma in the footer.

When do you reply to support?

Support hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm Central, excluding US federal holidays. First-reply targets by severity are set out in your care plan. Existing clients use the portal; otherwise use the contact form.

What if the site is down at night?

Mail and tickets still land. The clock for a first reply starts when the next support window opens, unless your plan names a down-site target that runs longer. We do not publish a pager number on this website.

Can we keep our domain and email?

Yes. We do not need to hold your domain, and moving a website does not have to mean moving your email. Microsoft 365 is a separate service if you want it, and it is fine to take one without the other.

This website

How this site is built, and the choices behind it.

How do I get into the client portal?

Existing clients use portal.strataveo.com, in this tab. If you do not have a login, you are not an existing client yet. use the contact form from the address we have on the account and we will sort it.

Do you track me on this site?

We use analytics to count page views. There is no tracking cookie and no advertising tag on this site. The cookie policy is the accurate list of what is actually set, which is very little.

Who is the privacy contact?

the contact form. The privacy policy covers the public site and the contact form. Client files, mailboxes we administer, and hosting we run for you sit on the engagement contract.

Tell us what you need built.

No pitch deck and no discovery fee. Most engagements start with a single site, and we add the rest only when it earns its place.
